I first saw this ad in the newspaper sometime last month if I'm not mistaken:

All You Can Eat for just RM25 per person?? Of course we have to try it out!

But the idea of eating here somehow always slipped our mind every time we go out, and it was only recently we got to dine here.

Yes, I know.. shame on us for only trying out this place now huh?

I guess we arrived at the right time at around 7pm where it was still quite empty, because about 5 minutes later, the place was packed! As soon as we sat down, we chose our soup base, and straightaway attacked the food! :p

By the way, you can have a few choices for your soup base: Chicken, Tomato, or Kimchi. You can choose 2 types, and we chose chicken and tomato for ours.

Our first round only; how can you not go for several rounds at an all-you-can-eat restaurant? ;)

For RM25, the food choices definitely exceeded the value of the price. We were also pleased to find the food were fresh, with free flow of sodas.

When we arrived, it was still quite empty. But like I said before, it didn't stay like that for long. The place filled up pretty quick!

Delicious pork skin

I have read food reviews of this place but not once have they mentioned that this place is non-halal. So I was surprised to see pork meat and pork skin being served there.

After at least 4 rounds of food taking, we had definitely ate to our hearts content.

We will definitely be back here :)

Just had pan mian soup for breakfast this morning, something which I hadn't had in a long time.

This was at Siang Siang Pan Mian, a coffeeshop located at Damai Plaza (beside Strawberry Cake House).

Not only do we like the pan mian (whether it's soup or kon lau based, and their fried wonton is also another of our favourite!), but the place is also very clean and organised.

Can't say the same to a lot of other coffeeshops in town, can we..?

It's that time of year again.. Ramadhan is here!

And to me, Ramadhan definitely reminds me of all those yummy buka puasa buffets!

And to Chef Zam fans, take note that he will be at the Square Restaurant, Novotel Kota Kinabalu in person from 23-29th July, so make sure you go on these days if you want to catch a glimpse or maybe even say hi to him! :)

An overdue post, but better post them late than never, huh?

A couple of weeks ago, I received an email to sample Mummy's Moist Chocolate Cake, and since I just love chocolate cakes (especially moist ones! My fav!) I quickly replied and said that I would love to try them out!

I've also seen them in stores someplace around KK, but I just can't seem to remember where I saw it.. in Putatan somewhere I think. I was curious to try them out but didn't get to do so before.

Until now.

I was so busy with work that I had to postpone my meet up with them several times (so sorry about this!) but we finally managed to set up a date on a weekend and stuck to it.

And when I finally met Auntie Faridah (she asked me to call her that :)), my impression of her? She is a very nice lady; easy to get along with and talk to. :)

Plus, she gave me A LOT of cakes to sample on!

3 different shapes of containers (mega, standard and cupcake size). That's 7 containers altogether! A lot, right??

I was actually expecting just 1 container actually; it was supposed to be just a sample anyway.

But 7 containers filled with Mummy's Moist Chocolate Cakes? Wow! And the mega and standard sized containers all came with a spoon inside too. How convenient is that?

So I quickly drove home and immediately opened one of the medium sized containers.. scooped in.. and this greeted me:

Soft, moist chocolate cake with gooey topping. Oooh! LOVE!

It was SO good; the cake just melts in your mouth, and the sweetness is just right! It's just perfect! I don't know how else to describe it!

I love it so much that I had 3 containers of it back-to-back that afternoon, while the hubby had some of the cupcake size in the middle of the night, as he called it the perfect midnight snack! LOL!

The cupcake size, perfect for door gifts or for parties!

My personal favourite size is the standard size container; the amount is just nice.. not too much, and not too little.

So how many of you have tried Mummy's Moist Chocolate Cake? It's delicious, right??

Yup, Salmon Skin is now back in Wojamama Japanese Restaurant's menu!

(Currently only at Lintas & 1Borneo outlets though, as their Asia City outlet is currently under renovation)

We used to always order their Salmon Head & Salmon Skin every time we dine in Wojamama, so for these two items to officially be back in the menu, it certainly is VERY GOOD NEWS to us!

I don't know how I could have forgotten about this yummy fish noodle soup at Jin Jin Seafood Restaurant! I remember a couple of years back, I used to have this almost every Sunday for brunch, but for some reason, I just never got around to blogging about it!

But I finally got to eat it again last week, thanks to my brother and SIL! And this time, I made sure I took a photo of it before eating!

For my dish above, I ordered the fresh fish and fish eggs. I don't know why, but I LOVE to eat fried fish eggs! So together with the soup, the fish eggs tastes even better!

The fish noodle soup (with fish eggs) above costs RM10, reasonably priced in my opinion. Wait 'til you try it; you won't mind spending that much on it too, trust me!

I got to dine at the newly renovated Wojamama Japanese Restaurant Lintas branch last night with the hubby, and I must say that I'm very impressed at the restaurant's new look!

The overall ambience is much better than before. I also love the mini cubicles (for those of you who want a bit of privacy), and just how cute is that children's corner!

Their menu had been revamped as well, with much better photos and some new choices of food.

I ordered my usual Niku Udon (Japanese Noodles with Beef in Soup) [RM18.00] while the hubby ordered the Haru (22 pieces of sushi) [RM49.00].

There were so many sushi on the plate that I had to help him eat some just to finish the whole thing! But it was oh-so delicious, it's definitely worth the price.

Have you guys checked out the new Wojamama Lintas? If you have not, then you definitely must do so soon!

The hubby and I just LOVE steamboat dinners, what more if they are an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet!

So for our 8th Anniversary dinner, we've decided to bring my big brother and SIL along as well; the more, the merrier, right? :)

Destination: Beijing BBQ Steamboat at Kg. Nelayan in Taman Tun Fuad, Bukit Padang!

With over 90 varieties of food (fish, prawns, crab, chicken, beef, noodles, vegetables, etc.) and priced at just RM30 per person, you can literally eat til you drop! You can also choose either Chicken flavour or Tom Yam for your soup base!

I quite like their fried noodle section; so many varieties! They have a few different types of fried noodles, but my favourite was the fried lau su fun (bottom left of photo above). They're oh-so yummy!

Their Stewed Kai Kiok (Chicken feet) are good, too! I found myself taking this and the fried lau su fun a few times!

So make sure you bring your big appetite when you come to Beijing! You won't regret it! You will definitely get your money's worth! :)

After several attempts to make a trip up to Kasih Sayang Resort with the hubby (but failed because we missed the Jalan Kokol Poring-Poring junction each time!) we finally managed to drive up there yesterday!

I just love road trips! It's just oh-so fun, don't you think? :)

If you're one who easily get motion sickness (like me), then you might want to prepare yourself prior the trip up there, because not only is it an uphill road, it's also a very windy one! Eeek!

But not to worry, once you reach the resort (way up in 2,400 feet above sea level!), you will forget about the motion sickness in no time, because the view of Kota Kinabalu from up there is just breathtaking!

It looks like a house, albeit a very big (and unique) one!

Kasih Sayang Resort (or I should say Boutique Health Resort & Spa) is perfect for those who want to relax and unwind from the hectic working lifestyle.

Which is why I gave the hubby the look when he asked me, "So what kind of entertainment do they have here?" It's a health resort, what kind of entertainment do you expect..?

The first thing the hubby commented about the above photo was that it looks exactly like one of the resorts he's been to in Mauritius. It just looks so serene, don't you think? I love it!

Now moving on to the restaurant..

This is what you see when you walk to the balcony of the Cloud 9 Restaurant: beautiful view of the hills as well as Kota Kinabalu city (and Tunku Abdul Rahman islands too! See 2nd before last photo on this post)

Did I mention that the view from up here is simply breathtaking? I love the fresh breeze, too!

No wonder their tagline is "Ahhh... Almost Heaven"!

I now understand why my fellow photographer friends would always come up here in the evening just to wait for the sunset. I know it would have been a gorgeous photo no matter how you take it!

I must make it a point to take a photo of it myself one of these days, too!

Now on to the food..

We were there just for brunch actually, as we already had breakfast before we made the trip to Kasih Sayang Resort.

The hubby ordered this:

Dr.Lynn's Famous Vegetable Broth, RM11.90

Since it's a health resort, the hubby asked for the most healthy dish (with soup) in it, and the waitress recommended Dr.Lynn's Famous Vegetable Broth. It consists of celery, potatoes, carrots, leeks, tomatoes, pumpkins, onion and garlic.

Needless to say, he loved it! It's a very healthy broth indeed, perfect for a health-conscious person like him!

Beef Soto, RM10.90

I went for something more simple; the Beef Soto. It's delicious and the beef was tender, but there's nothing else special with this dish, really. Just a plain ol' soto.

But their juices are sure something else; they are actually more expensive than our food!

Good For Skin Juice, RM12

I went for the juice called "Good For Skin" (no thanks to the breakouts I've had recently, but you don't need to know about that!) and it's basically tomato, carrot and apple blended together.

Very healthy! Very delicious! Highly recommended! :)

Calamansi Apple Juice, RM12

The hubby ordered the Calamansi Apple Juice. Another refreshing drink. It's just too bad it doesn't have its own unique name like my drink!

So if you still haven't been to Kasih Sayang Resort, you should do so; best to do so with your family for a weekend visit.

Why, you ask?

Because what better way to spend your weekend (or your free time) than this peaceful view? :)

I usually cannot stand spicy food, but give me Thai food anyday, especially Tom Yum Goong, and I could finish the soup until the very last drop!

Weird, isn't it?

Thai Style Ngiu Chap

So, it is no wonder that this version of Beef Brisket Noodles, or Ngiu Chap is one of my personal favourites: it is actually a Thai version of it!

It used to be quite spicy a few years back (with cili padi inside the soup itself) but it is no longer served like that now. The soup base nowadays tastes mostly sourish. Just imagine tom yum goong, but without the spiciness!

But do not fret; in order to 'complete' the taste, just ask for their special sambal belacan, add some to your bowl of Ngiu Chap, stir, and you're set! The sambal belacan makes all the difference in the dish, trust me!

What I also love about this Ngiu Chap is that the soup is clear-based, which is so unlike the others. The meatballs are huge, too!

Price: RM4.50 for a Regular/normal sized bowl, BUT I highly suggest you to order the Big bowl instead. It is only RM5.50!

p/s: I have already reviewed this eatery years back, but only found out recently that my old foodblog has finally been closed down, without them letting me know first. So all my food posts.. and the photos.. are gone just like that. :(

Deep Fried Pork Noodle or Char Nyuk Mien [RM5] which can be found at Kedai Kopi Hui Chow.

One of my absolute favourites! The soup is a must-try too; dry prawn soup! Certainly different from other coffeeshops, which is why I like it!

I remember back when I was still in primary school years, after attending our Church mass like Easter or Christmas Eve, my dad would always bring us whole family to have the BEST HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE IN TOWN (his exact words!) located at Wishbone Cafe in Jesselton Hotel Jalan Gaya (Gaya Street). It was quite a popular coffeehouse back then, and my parents would always bump into people they know whenever we were there.

Even though the rest of the family always eventually ordered something else other than this famous dish, my dad and I were usually the ones who ended up ordering the chicken rice every single time. Which was fine by me, as I absolutely LOVE this dish! Love, love, love! Can't have enough of it! Even until today!

The taste of the rice, the soup, the condiments, and most importantly the chicken, they were out of this world! Just mouthwatering!

Well it is to me, at least.

Anyway, the Hainanese Chicken Rice served at Wishbone Cafe looked something like this:

Generous portion of everything (especially the chicken), but with the price that it's at, the portion SHOULD be a lot, right?

I don't remember the bean sprouts being served back then, though!

I'm sure most of you know that Wishbone Cafe has been replaced by Bella Italia now, so when I saw this:

Those sweet memories of my family outings and the Hainanese Chicken Rice came flooding straight back!

But is this Restoran Wishbone as good as the one served at Wishbone Cafe?

Restoran Wishbone has a kopitiam feel instead of a usual restaurant: open aired (for downstairs), having to order and pay at the counter, and taking your own utensils and condiments before sitting down.

Definitely suited for the mass crowd now. Not a problem, though.

You can also opt to sit facing the wall; best for those in a hurry during lunchtime.

Now, the comparison between the 2 places..

Hainanese Chicken Rice at Restoran Wishbone, RM5

Obviously, with the huge difference with the pricing, (RM20+ served at Wishbone Cafe/Bella Italia) and only RM5 here at Restoran Wishbone, you can hardly expect it to be the same. Though I have to say, even though the fragrant butter rice tasted good, it was slightly dry. The portion of the chicken was reasonable though; tasted good, too.

The one big thing that I didn't like?

When I dined there in early September, I noticed that the condiments were just open and exposed to the air; no lid on it at all. Which means, easy targets for the flies and other insects to land, isn't it?

I surely hope they have fixed this matter by now; I haven't got around to dine there for a second time yet.

But anyway, they also serve Nasi Lemak and other dishes too, like the Oxtail Assam Pedas, which tasted quite good, but looked horrible in photo (due to the colour and texture), so I've decided not to post it up.

I got to try this Tempura Ebi Kare Udon, which is basically Fried Prawn Curry Noodle at Wojamama 1Borneo the other day, and it was delish!

Unfortunately, I didn't get the price for it, but not to worry; I will surely order this for myself sometime soon!

If you love curry as well, then you should give this dish a try at any of the Wojamama's restaurant branches. :)

That's right! The popular branch Japan Boat Takoyaki (at Ground Floor in Wisma Merdeka) has now arrived in Karamunsing Complex, too! They officially opened their latest branch on 1st September 2011! Congrats!

If you're wondering where they are located, it's at the Basement Floor, located at the back entrance of Karamunsing Complex!

I'm sure you all have heard how amazing and popular the Buka Puasa Buffet at Tanjung Ria Cafe in Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. Some of you have even sungkai or buka puasa here every year, correct? ;)

There are not only Malay dishes being served here, but you can also find Chinese, Western and North Indian dishes as well (which is my favourite, by the way! The cheese naan topped with lamb masala sauce.. ooh, yum!)

There are over 200 dishes served, such as Hyatt's signature oxtail assam pedas, satay, ketupat, lemang, curries, roast chicken, kebab rolls, roast lamb and beef, beef noodles, burgers, ngiu chap, naan, tandoori, and so much more!

And for you seafood lovers, you simply cannot miss the seafood section like the crabs, prawns and even fish!

But for me, the main highlight for the buka puasa here at Hyatt would have to be the dessert section. There are so many colourful desserts for you to try that you can probably even come here just for their desserts!

So many choices; it's crazy!
