* This is a continuation of the first Su Ra Sang Korean Restaurant post *

The Korean dishes have already been posted up on the first review of this restaurant, now comes the Japanese dishes review!

Su Ra Sang officially launched their Japanese dishes on 15th December 2010, and like their Korean dishes, their Japanese dishes were delicious as well! Seriously!

I mean just by looking at these photos below, you'll see why!

Beef-with-Sweet-Sauce

Beef with Sweet Sauce. The beef was succulent and tender, and the sweet sauce was sweet but not too sweet. One of our favourite dishes at the restaurant!

Korokke

The Potato Korokke. With a crispy exterior with a creamy mashed potato interior, topped with some mayonnaise and Ebiko (prawn eggs), it's a perfect snack or a side dish! Simply yummy!

Shishamo

The Shishamo or Pregnant Fish.

I'm not a fan of this dish as I just cannot stand the taste and smell of this fish (even though I love fish eggs, but only if it's fried!), but according to WC, it's really delicious.

Perhaps y'all should give it a try and let me know afterwards, ya?

Soft-Shell-Crab

The fried Soft Shelled Crabs. I love how it isn't completely covered with flour, so you can still taste the crabs.

Definitely another one of my favourite dishes. Enough said.

Tama-Unagi

The Tama Unagi, which is the eel egg roll.

I personally like how the egg taste doesn't overpower the overall roll, and if you're a fan of unagi and/or egg roll, this is a must try.

Teppanyaki-Chicken

The Chicken Teppanyaki, served on an iron griddle/plate. It's just oh.so.good!

Green-Tea-Tofu-with-Katsuobushi

And finally, the Green Tea Tofu with Katsuobushi. This is a very unique dish, as the inside looks like this:

Green Tea Tofu with Kashibushi

Green tea tofu on one side, normal tofu on the other side, with some sliced vegetables inside. Looks nice, isn't it? Believe me, it tastes pretty nice, too! Try it for yourself if you don't believe me!

So if you can't decide on whether to choose Korean or Japanese food for your next meal, why not have both at the same time? ;)

Su Ra Sang Korean Restaurant

Su Ra Sang actually translates to King's Table in the Korean language, and this restaurant located on the 1st floor of the D Junction building has been operating since August 2010.

What you will see as soon as you walk into the restaurant entrance door

Su-Ra-Sang

At the time we were there, the place was very quiet, but don't let this fool you; Su Ra Sang actually offers a variety of dishes that will leave you browsing into the menu for quite sometime, just wondering what to order!

Su-Ra-Sang-Korean-Restaurant-Korean-&-Japanese-dishes-combined

All the dishes that I had to review that night! But it's no fun just looking them from afar, right? So let's get to each dish!

First up, the Korean dishes:

Korean Menu

Jab-Che-with-Seafood

The Seafood Japchae (잡채), made from glass noodle and seafood.

Japchae comprises of the 2 hanja words: 잡 (jap, literally means mixed and stirred) and 채 (chae, literally means vegetables), so 잡채 (Japchae) literally means a mixture of vegetable! More info on Japchae can be found here.

I quite like this dish as the glass noodle is very fragrant, and even though it's quite bland (as with most of Korean dishes, if you don't know that already), if you eat it with the seafood and the 5 Banchan (Korean Side Dishes), you will not notice the bland taste as much. This dish also for some reason screams "Healthy" to me, so to those of you who wants to order something light and healthy, then you could perhaps order this!

The 5 Banchan (Side Dishes)

The 5 Banchan (반찬, or side dishes) comes with whatever Korean dish you order by the way, regardless of the price!

Jja-Jang-Myun

This is the ever popular Jja jang myun (or Jja jang myeon, or 짜장면  in Hangul, the Korean alphabet). If you watch a lot of Korean dramas or movies, this dish would be eaten all the time! More info on what Jja jang myeon is, click here.

You should give this dish a try whenever you go to a Korean restaurant!

Mae-Woon-Gal-Bi-JJim-(Spicy-Beef-Rib)

This is the Maewoon Galbi Jjim, or Spicy Beef Rib Stew.

If you haven't known already, Koreans also love their spicy dishes, like the side dish kimchi, and their variety of noodles (which are mentioned below). So to add on to another spicy dish is this Spicy Beef Rib Stew.

I find that the meat is perfectly tender, but gosh, this dish sure is SPICY! (Yes, I am one who can't stand spicy food!)

Yuk-Gae-Jang-Myun

This is the Yuk Gae Jang Myun (육개장면, noodle with shredded beef and vegetables in a spicy broth. This dish is believed to be good for the health and is popular due to its hot and spicy taste.

Again, it is a bit too spicy for my liking, but that's just because I don't eat spicy food. The broth is quite delicious actually, but at that time, all I could taste was the spiciness.

Hwa-Che

This is a common Korean dessert called Hwachae (화채), which is basically a fruit punch that consists of pears, watermelons, black peppercorns, honey (or sugar) and water.

Hwachae (Fruit Punch)

Just when you think that this is just a normal fruit punch with fruits inside, the peppercorns shocks you with its peppery taste! Something different but quite nice, I must admit! A must try for dessert!

For the Korean dishes, I find the prices quite reasonable, especially the Myun, or noodle dishes, starting at just RM10 and above.

Also if you're a Soju lover, then you will be happy to know that Su Ra Sang offers 30% discount on this drink every Saturday!

Since I have quite a lot of photos to post for the Japanese dishes in Su Ra Sang, I shall post them in another post. Will link it here soon!

So on my previous food article in Bandwidth Streetpress (June Issue online here), we reviewed Royal China Restaurant, located in D'Junction building.

What we like about eating Dim Sum here is that you can be assured that they're steamingly hot and fresh, as they aren't served on the usual Dim Sum cart; it came out right from the kitchen.

These 2 dishes are the Chef's signature dishes, and they are both must-tries! The sau-nyuk is very soft, tender and juicy, but is still crunchy on the skin part. Yum!

The Paikut Wong (pork ribs) is the same too: soft, tender and juicy. But what's most important is that it's not too sweet. I'm actually not a fan of this dish (because it's too sweet for my liking), but I have to admit, even I loved the Paikut Wong here at Royal China! No joke, people! It's that good!

And if you eat these both dishes with Royal China's special green sauce called the Thai Sauce, OMG it tastes even better! So make sure you order this sauce ya!

I also loved the Sweetened and Chilled Lemon Grass Jelly (pic on the right). If you're feeling extra full after finishing the main meals, you have to order this dessert because it somehow makes you feel.. how to explain it.. light again? It doesn't make you feel bloated as before, that's for sure! A must have as well!

Raja Wang Cafe

Last week, the KK Food Reviews team got called to do a food review over at Raja Wang Cafe, located in New World Commercial Centre in Donggongon. So of course we said 'sure!'.

We were told that a lot of patrons not only go and have their meals there, but Raja Wang Cafe is also a regular place to chill and drink, especially among the older crowds.

Grilled Stingray

We got to try their 2 main signature dishes, which is the Grilled Stingray [RM3 per 100g]. We quite like that the stingray wasn't grilled until burnt and dry, and their 'sambal' sauce is quite tasty and spicy.

**You can also order the Grilled Squid [RM3.50 per 100g] here**

Chu Chap

And this one is a sure must-have: Chu Chap, or Pork Innards [Medium=RM5, Large=RM10]. The above was large portion, and when divided to a few people, you will need to order MORE than 1 plate of this dish! Seriously! It's that yummy!

You can also come here and try their breakfast menu, like the Chu Chap Kon Lo Mee!

Personally, we'll surely be there again. Heck, if Donggongon was just a mere 10-minute radius drive away, we'd be there all the time just for the Chu Chap! Hehe.. To those of you who have tried their other dishes, care to share on your experience dining here as well?

Dowish Restaurant

So my birthday was just recently, and one of the birthday dinners thrown to me was at a restaurant called Dowish Restaurant, located at Jalan Penampang (right beside the traffic light to go in Jalan Bundusan). It's been ages since I've eaten here, and this restaurant used to be a family favourite back in the days. I remember it being filled with customers everytime we were here, but this time, it was just a few tables being occupied. (which is fine by me, because that would mean our food would be prepared faster!)

Steamboat Dinner

We had the Steamboat with Chicken Soup Base. (you can either choose this or the Tom Yam soup base) There were 6 of us, and the portion given was just enough.

Steamed Chicken Special

I also ordered the Steamed Chicken Special (one of my favourite dishes) and we had to ask for the ginger on the side as they forgot to give it to us. The chicken was a bit half-cooked, so it was only so-so to me.

Total dinner cost us RM178.50. There was another dish that caught my eye: the Crab Rice (cooked on a claypot); it looks very interesting, and I will surely be back again to try this!
