This year, for the first time ever, my fiance WC and I had our first candlelight dinner. 'Twas very memorable: beautiful setting, nice food, friendly staff, the only thing missing was wine (we had to settle for sparkling juice). But let's not get into personal stuff on this blog and go on with talking about the food, shall we?

Prawn Salad

This is the Warm Grilled Garlic Prawn with Rocket Salad and Balsamic Vinegar Dressing. Both WC and I liked it; the prawn were very soft and easy to eat. I just wished there were more dressing on the salad but hey, that's just me.

Double Essence of Chicken with Bread

For the soup, we had Double Boiled Essence of Chicken with Wanton Dumpling In Coconut. Also served at the same time were some breadsticks and buns, with butter on the side. I loved the wanton, the soup, not so much. This is the only thing I didn't really like out of the whole dinner.

Beef Tenderloin

WC's main course, the Grilled Medallion of Beef Tenderloin served with Sweet Potato Timbale, accompanied with Sauteed Spinach, Glazed Carrots and Cream Herb Gravy. The beef was very rare but VERY red and tender inside! I LOVED it!

Stuffed Chicken

This is my main course, the Oven Roasted Stuffed Chicken Roulade in Green Apple-Pumpkin Puree, Served with Sabah Vegetable and Red Pepper Cream Sauce. I thought mine was delicious, although I had to ask for more sauce for mine as it weren't enough.

Chocolate Truffle

And for dessert, we both had the Chocolate Truffle served with Strawberry Coulis, together with Chocolate Pralines on the side. I loved this dessert, and I'm sure those chocolate lovers would think the same! It's sweet and yet tastes light enough to eat 'til it's gone!

[Coffee or Tea was also served during dessert time]

Chocolate Truffle 2

WC's dessert, the same but with different design

Overall, this Valentine Set Dinner cost us RM75 nett for 2 pax (excluding the sparkling juice). VERY affordable if you ask me, considering the very nice ambience, excellent service of staff, and good food!

I'll definitely consider coming here again for my next Valentine dinner.

I've always have my dinner (and wine) at CUBE, but I've never actually tried their Lunch Menu yet. So when sis Jewelle wanted to meet up for lunch at City Mall and asked for a place to eat, I quickly suggested CUBE!

These are what we had:

Curry Chicken Rice

Sis Jewelle had the Curry Chicken Rice [price: RM10.50++]. I tried it myself, and it's quite bland, IMO. It's only so-so.

Minced Chicken Noodle Soup

But I had the Minced Chicken Noodle Soup [price: RM8++], and ooh! I love it! I'm definitely gonna order this again! The soup's not too oily (although it does in the pic above), the combination of minced chicken, bean sprout, and bok choy with the noodle is really yummy!

Oh and by the way, both the dishes above are inclusive of either coffee or tea.

Chocolate Cheese Cake

And this is what we both had for dessert: the Chocolate Cheesecake [price: RM9++]. I just simply love this dessert! It's light, and not too sweet! Sis Jewelle, who's a fan of anything chocolate, loved it too! And she commented that it also has a bit of coffee taste in it. Yummy!

Have you guys tried the cheesecake yet?

The people over at CUBE Restaurant & Wine Lounge contacted me last week, and asked whether I would be interested in doing a food review at their restaurant.

Interested? Are you kidding me?? I told them I would love to do it and have it featured here on my blog!

And so I brought WC and Impedius along for the food review on Tuesday night.

CUBE is located at City Mall on the ground Floor (beside Vedablu) and has been opened for almost a year now; in fact, November is its first year anniversary! Happy Birthday CUBE!

Back Entrance Of CUBE
A lot of people think this is the front entrance, but it's not. It's actually the back entrance!

Front Entrance Of CUBE
This is the actual front entrance! And now you know!

The seating areas of CUBE is divided into 3 sections:

DSC02668
Section 1: The private seating area (the place was actually quite big, with a few tables inside, but there were some people dining there, so I just took a corner shot of the area cuz I didn't wanna disturb their privacy)

Interior
Section 2: the open spaced air-conditioned area (love the decor BTW!)

And Section 3, the open-aired area (which can be seen on the front entrance photo above)

Adam, the F&B Manager, described us in great detail of the restaurant as well as each food in the menu. It was certainly very entertaining! He was also very attentive to what we need throughout the night. Makes you feel so welcomed there! I like!

And they had already prepared what we should eat that night:

Unforgettable Taste
The Unforgettable Taste (Steamed Village [kampung] Chicken), priced at RM20++. FYI, this dish is good for 2 pax.

Secret Sauce Fillet
The Secret Sauce Fillet, priced at RM36++ (I LOVE this! Yummy!)

Prosperity Dish
The veggie dish called Prosperity, priced at RM15++

Braised Pork Belly
And CUBE's signature dish, the Braised Pork Belly, priced at RM20++. This dish is also good for 2 pax. It's a lot of pork! Seriously!

This dish is served with a bowl of rice, and as well as this:

Man Tou
Man Tou, or Chinese steamed bun.

Dessert
And our dessert, the Sweetie Sesame Ball, priced at RM6++. It had some sort of egg custard inside! Yum yum!

As the name of the restaurant suggests, this restaurant is also a wine lounge..

DSC02680
which serves mid range to expensive types of wines.

Pouring Of Wine

We got to try their red wine (Hardys Collection, priced at RM40++ during Happy Hour [3-9pm], usual price RM59++) as well as the white wine (Jacob's Creek, priced at RM69++). I I know I'm no expert in wines, but I just know that both are quite good, so I'll definitely be back for their Happy Hour Promotion!

We dined at CUBE the next night again, and tried their other dishes, like the CUBE Melon soup (which I love! So many portions, and very delicious!), the Unforgettable Taste (steamed chicken) again, and the Oxtail with Sacha Sauce. I'll surely be back again one of these days to try their other dishes! You can count on it!

Okay, now with the promotion!
  • The Happy Hour Promotion. House wines are served at 3-9pm daily, and priced at RM40++!
  • Their Set Lunch, which is either Baked Cheese Fish Fillet Rice, Curry Chicken Rice, or Cube Noodles, plus dessert (fruits) and drinks (Vietnamese Coffee or English Tea) priced at only RM14.99++!
  • Dishes of the month: the Unforgettable Taste (the steamed chicken mentioned above), the Scrumptious (Sesame Chicken with Thai Salad Sauce) priced at RM25++, and the Simply Delicious (Salt & Pepper Chicken) priced RM14++!
So if you haven't tried out CUBE, why not give it a try today and try their dishes of the month? And FYI, CUBE is also available for catering and private functions, too!

Today, I was one of the lucky people who got to try out the new Set Lunch Menu at The Roof Restaurant, located at Imperial International Hotel in Warisan Square!

There are 3 new set lunches, which are Set A (RM15), Set B (RM20), and Set C (RM25). And this afternoon, we were treated to the very nice lunch from the Set C menu:

Firstly we had the Clear Chicken Soup with Cube Vegetable (no photo of this.. sorry!)

Secondly, we had rice served with these dishes:
Ayam Panggang Percik Bersantan

Daging Masak Merah

Deep Fried Fish With Black Bean Sauce

Steamed Bean Curd With Oyster Sauce

And for dessert, we had these:

And now my verdict..

I thought that the food were delicious and reasonably priced. The food were served in good portions, too! And I loved the Ayam Percik the most! And the Beef! Yummm!

So the new lunch menu gets a thumbs up from me! You guys should try it too, and let me know what you think of it!

Mode Cafe

WC and I have been spending quite a lot of out time lately at Mode Cafe, located at Asia City Complex (or KAC for short).

The reason?

It's simply because WC can't get enough of this dish:

Black Bean Beef with Kway Teow

Black Bean Beef with Kway Teow (RM6.50), and I must admit, it's very delicious, especially with its thick gravy! Yumm! A must try!

Wa Tan Ho

I on the other hand, tried this Seafood Wat Tan Ho (RM5.50), but I was a tad disappointed because the seafood's taste of un-freshness. (is there such a word? LOL..)

Portuguese Chicken

On our second trip to this place, we also tried this Portuguese Chicken (RM7.00), which is filled with "chicken pieces with carrot & green bell pepper in a buttery mild curry sauce. And these are topped with mozzarella cheese and baked into perfection" - exact description of this dish!

And gosh, the cheese taste is VERY strong! And overall it's an okay dish.

French Fried Supreme

But this particular dish: the French Fried Supreme (RM6.50) is definitely my new favourite side dish! I just love the taste of nacho cheese, and this dish has lots of it, plus some chicken minced meat too! Great combo on top of french fries!

I also love that the place is a wifi zone area, so you can chill there with your laptop too!
